MyLords
Having by indefatigable Application and a great deal of trouble found out the Longitude at Sea, I take the Liberty, humbly to present my discovery to Your Lordschips in the inclosed papers, viz
1. my new tables of the moon
2. a ManuScript shewing the Method for finding out the Longitude at Sea affter the said tables.
And as I think myself intitled to the Reward granted by an Act of Parliament in the 12th of Queen Anne's, called an Act for providing a publick Reward to such Person or Persons, as shall discover the Longitude at Sea, I humbly submit the above mention'd things to Your Lordships farther Inquiry & Trial, not doubting, but they will be found just & applicable. I therefore hope, the Reward will be granted to me according as the Said Act of Parliament directs, and I remain with the utmost submission
My Lords
Your Lordships
most huble & most obedient
servant
Tob.s Mayer
